Dates for food festival confirmed as traders invited to apply

A popular food festival promising something for the whole family will return next summer, with applications now open for traders.

Delivered by Durham County Council, Seaham Food Festival will return to the region’s coast for a weekend of food, fun, and entertainment on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August.

Attracting thousands of visitors each year, and featuring more than 120 traders, there’s something for everyone at the event, from street food and sweet treats to local beverages and savoury goods. Plus, applications are now open for traders interested in running a stall next year.

Interested traders are asked to include as much information as possible about their business in their application, including latest news and awards, images of their stall, social media handles, and details of their produce.

Potential applicants have until Friday 13 February to apply, which can be done online.

Cllr Karen Allison, Durham County Council Cabinet member for leisure, tourism, regeneration and high street, said: “Seaham Food Festival is a fantastic opportunity for traders looking to get their name out there and increase the size of their customer-base, benefiting from the thousands of visitors that come along to enjoy the festival. We encourage anyone who is interested in having a stall at this popular event to get their application in as soon as possible.

“Our food festivals are a much-loved part of our events calendar and bring a major boost to local businesses and the wider visitor economy. We like to start our preparations early to make sure our events are enjoyed by as many people as possible.”

As with other years, the cookery theatre will be a highlight of this year’s festival and will feature a series of cookery demonstrations from a star-studded line up of TV chefs, details of whom will be revealed next year.
